Well as things stand, my novas got a 20ne with what ive been told is an f20 gearbox fitted (i will check asap). Well my thrust bearing is currently rattling away on and off so its obviously going to need replacing in the near future. I was thinking this would be a good chance to fit an f16 close ratio box but theres a few things id like to find out first. First of all, what sort of revs will it be doing at say 70/80mph as i dont want her to be revving too high on motorway trips! and what sort of gain will i see in acceleration? is it enough to warrant changing the box when this ones in fine working order? or am i better off sticking with the believed f20? also can you use the 1.7td isuzu box? like so http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-MK3-1-7TD-IZUZU-F16-GEARBOX-/280675568793?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4159914c99

if not, what models did the f16 come in?
thanks for reading!

Diesel box will be wide ratio 2.0 8vs had the f16 early astra gte's and some cav sirs had the f16cr tbf I wouldn't bother with the change will rev at about 4k on motorway at least can't remember what my old one did but know the f20 is loads better plus who's to say a 25 year old second hand box will be anygood, also I hardly noticed any difference in acceleration.

when i had my c20ne i couldnt decide on f16 or f20 so i went in the middle and got an f18 and it was quick on acceleration and not bad on top end
