Good man, not many original ones like that left. Its a pity Vauxhall never made 15" three spokes, as they do suit the car really well I think.

Theres several on ebay, and google search came up with some results from a couple of shops too. It appears the design has changed a bit though, with the updated logo, so perhaps asking for some matching second hand ones on here might be better?

In Germany the Aquivalent to the Astra Mk1 GT/E could be ordered with ATS "three spokes" (6x15 ET49) wich are were only avaible for Opel.... Don't know if these Wheels were also avaible in the UK.

I haven't found a pic with a nova that has this wheels on it, but i've seen a few on some Opel-Meetings, most of them have 195/50R15 Tyres on these Rims

18-07-12, 10:30 PM
bump on last question and my sunroof has aquired a leak (more like a very small weep) threw the handle whats the best thing to do

Liam
18-07-12, 10:55 PM
A K&N bolt on filter would be good (like the picture below), plus it's probably the only other filter you can use instead of the original one?

A GTE rad is bigger, but will bolt straight into your Nova.

Those k&n's look good but the standerd air box draws cold air from the front of the engine bay, the K&N draws hot from the top, so k&n with cold air inductions or a custom air box would work well

Oh and nice project! Jelous of your rocker cover!

Have you taken it out to see if there's any breaks or splits? Could the water be running in from a split seal and the only way into the car is through the handle.

Them sunroof's are prone for leaking!!! im guessing yours is the one you can fully remove the glass,

im guessing its also leaking on the front corners??

what i did to solve this problem was to take the sunroof glass out, Remove the two hinges on the front edge of the sunroof to prevent the glass from breaking. Then bent them up ever so slightly as to create more of a seal to the rubber,

Hope that helped, Is an amazing looking little nova mate, Would love it :)

Don't know the arrangement on your sunroof, but I would check the drain pipes are clear, there will be some, maybe four, one each corner if they are blocked water will accumulate and overcome the seal

i have found two. one in each rear round where the rear lights are how do i make sure there clear and where would the fronts ones be. and i have got a bit of rust where the bodywork meets the sunroof write above the haddle

Royston

Open sunroof, use a piece of pipe and blow through the drain hole gently or you could open sun roof and just fill the lip with water and see where it goes/drains away, without over filling/flooding car.

Just a suggestion

Nice car mate, i love the early sr's with the snowplough. I had an E reg but by then they had the same front bumper as the GTE's. I expect as above your drain pipes might be blocked but also the rubber seals can perish over time especially being in the sunlight can make them split. It happened to me on my GTE i was told a little trick is to smear vaseline on it and that helps to stop it cracking and perishing :)

It probably isnt coming in through the rubber then, i know it sounds stupid but i would put vaseline on it to stop it getting any worse. It only takes a couple of minutes and it does work!

from what i know the medic kits are a quite rare optional extra, also iirc if you sticker the grey on the sides it will hold water, so you'd most likely be better to spray it on.

Unfortunately your car is now not road legal and will not pass its MOT as you have no fog light :( You need an additional foglight on the right side of the vehicle to get it road legal.
Twin fogs are fine instead as reverse lights are ot a requirement for MOT

Your making a nice job of tidying a lovely example:thumb:.

A wise idea buying plenty of waxoyl.
I Didnt bother with a nova I bought back in 2010 that was reasonably solid .
Used it as a daily when I bought it and it been parked up now since last year.
Its goint to need a good bit of welding when I get round to putting it back together:(

If you have a nova laying up its very disheartening when you go out to give it a look over and keep finding more dirty rot.

only things left to do is put the kick panels in, undash dash tray, centre console, put front bumper on and a bloody good clean inside and out

and ive got it booked in for mot tomorrow

My insurance goes down to a 3rd of what it is now so im gonna be having the rest painted and the bottom end of the engine is starting to knock a bit on cold so this year ill be taking the engine out and rebuilding it with all new bearing, gaskets and seals. and ill be giving the engine a lick of paint to and possible having the engine bay repainted

Steve

Yeah man, definitely paint the bay once you've got it out, it would be silly not to and will make it much easier to sell when you decide to.

You can spray them using UPOL- PLASTX in mid grey. Using a heat gun not to close will soften them up enough to mould them into shape. I did this a fe years back and worked a treat
