Fitting gutter trims

Well I eventually got a gutter trim and in the right colour for my mk1, whats the best way of fitting these? should I put window sealer or something similar on the metal ridge? or will need it?

there is already a bead of sealent inside the gutter trim, thats if its new

If it's not new, carefully "pipe" sealant into the trim and fit.

If you put if on the gutter on the car, you'll just remove it while trying to fit the trim over it.

Its a used part, so I will try filling the trim first, cheers!
