if you could get the correct choke size and jet sizes you could fit them i would have thought but pointless.
look at it this way, on 1.6 engines you only use 32 or 34 mm chokes, so even on a 1.6 the "twin 40" is choked down to 32 or 34, so not even all of the "40" barrel is used - so 45s would mean an even bigger area / flow not used.
if you had the carbs and could find a manifold to fit - then you could choke them down just the same provided you can get the chokes and jets - i dont know?
i also assume - dont know - the 45 will have bigger float chambers, so might even flood all the time unless you can find the correct emulsion tubes.
investigate - you have a set of 45s, so before you ditch them and have to shell out for 40s, just see if it is possible.
telephone aldon automotives briely hill west midlands. they are the only weber dealer local to me in west midlands, i dont even know of any others in brum.

If you want a small block engine to put them on you'd have to go for a 1.6 16v lump.
Martin Bowyer do a manifold for this engine on twin 45's and its ?115 from www.motorsportdirect.co.uk
then it gets expensive as you also need an ignition kit such as dta
if you got ?700 to spend then yes the 1.6 16v will put out plenty of power with these on :)

Mr Vizzard says:
33mm is the crossoverpoint for 40/45's to gain best flow.
MC
I'd say that was the LAW then lol
'Cos Vizard is a tuning god - I remember when Fast Car used to have a section all to Vizard about how to tune your engine - Now it's just all tits, ass 'n neon washer jets!!!
