following on from bubbas thread

my engine builder who gave my crank a polish gave me these bearings

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee127/swedge87/c3503bbf.jpg

they are labeled up as being from an opel 1.7td SOHC

now the big end bearing width is 19.3mm but ive just measure my crank and its nearer 21mm (early crank)
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee127/swedge87/03fd3f90.jpg

he gave me the wrong width bearing?

now for the main bearings

a bit of googling and i found this

http://www.ozparts.eu/5M2413-50?range=921%2C930%2C1283

it says the spec is

Min Std Shaft Size2.2828in/57.982mm
Max Std Shaft Size2.2833in/57.995mm

a c20xe crank is

mains, 57.982-57.995mm std
big ends 48.971-48.987mm std

so these will be fine ya? they were only about £50 for both sets

he said they are the same bearings the likes of sbd sell/use but for alot more money since they are for the "c20xe"

oppinions please lol

i just measured mine...early crank 20.6ish so that would be the 20.3 bearings.

how that if they are calibrated properly?

Well firstly you need to have sodding expensive digital, calipers to justify calibration (and even then they suck).
So cheap ones (sub£100) will be dire, then add grease to spoil the show and you will be off a long way :(
Retro ones rock :) never a flat battery when you need then either

our ones at work are calibrated every 6months. i think we got 60-70quid ones, and never had a problem with them. if they are good enough for what we measure (to H6 tolerances) id stick with them :p
