sup guys! I've changed the head on my nova 1.4 with a c14se head, car starts fine from cold but if i leave it running for about 20minz or less and i turn it off and try starting it again it gives the impression of a flat battery and sometimes starts, just, and other times just gives the impression of a flat battery! but i know the batteries fine! the only thing i can think of is the starter motor is on its way out? any help would be much appreciated :(

haha well don't i look a right tw*t! well it runs fine, when its started no problems at all. i thought initialy id wired up the ecu wrong or something and it was drawing too much voltage so i disconnected the ecu and still cranking over slow!

Sounds like starter on way out tbh, I had similar problems...new starter cured it

thanks for the help guys, just to let you know it was due to compression when warm, luckily i found a starter motor off a 1.8 2001 vectra which surprisingly fitted straight on and is slightly lighter, saving wait ;) haha! starts fine now and has a more 'modern' sound whilst cranking! and to top it all off the scrappy let me do a straight swop with the old starter motor! win win!

My XE does a similar thing & i was playing with the idea of getting a new starter motor.
What has compression when warm got to do with starter motor if thats not a daft question?

You sometimes crank mine & gives impression its flat, switch it off & try cranking again & its fine. Worries when iam out in it if it will start sometimes.
