not ideal if you want to build a budget trackday car bombing around in a 1.2spi lol

the ecotecs are massively under rated, theyre strong engines.

The X20XEV was fitted to the later cavs and callys also the early vectras! The one in my callys got 120000 miles on now still going strong no rattles or smoke!

If your just running it in a small car a 1600 16v might work, power to weight nd all that!

Used to have a standard nova GTE and that was way faster than my 2.0 cally on both aceleration and top end! :)

If its a track weapon your thinking bout building then that might be the way to go!

Never been in a corsa redtop but they recon their too heavy on the front and dont handle very well!

Sure someones gonna come on here and prove me wrong but its just what Ive herd!

An xe is still cheap - anything that delivers 150 bhp and 150 lb/ft that can be fitted for less than £800 is a bargain imo.

A 1600 xe or c/e16se are other good options, but the latter are creaping up in price due to availability. There are millions of x20xev or x16xe/l engines in vectras/astras/corsas, so the options are endless...
