rang local parts place today for a new one and my reg brought up two possibilities. Identical other than the internal bore apparently. anyone know the size mine is supposed to be.

niceone cheers phazer worked it out from that. it seems b reg and early are the rare one and after is the same as used on most other vauxhalls. although you can only tell from the chassis number

the girling book only lists 2 types of 17.5mm bore cylinders....

i thought the really early ones had the locating bolt in a different place

I usually turn up with the part slap it on the table and say I need this when it's not a common part

I had the same issue with mine a few weeks ago, bought the one they thought would fit. Took the old one off, it was different, found a spare in my garage , took trhe new one back to the shop. Job done!

But seriously it seems to be becoming increasingly more difficult to get the right parts, the lads in the shops don't often have much knowledge and of course they can't let me see the computer....

i just think they decided the 14mm ones were crap & used later ones with the different mounting drillings.
