View Full Version : LED Dash "bulbs"
As you well know the standard dash lights are sh*t.
I want to replace them with LED versions (so I can actually see what speed i'm doing).
Does anyone know how many I need in total.
That's for the full dash clocks, Headlight switch, clock and the heater dial back lights.
Thanks.

there are 6 on mine but mine are GTE clocks
I'd buy the of crazy led on eBay they are only cheap
Yes Graeme that's the plan, just don't know how many I need to change the whole dash/clock back lighting.
Don't really want to remove everything, if the fountain of knowledge can help me on here.
I think it's six but I've got a set of clocks in my wardrobe at home, I'll check when I get in for you
I replaced my dials bulbs with LEDs, they're a whiter white but much dimmer. I guess they're too directional for the glow the original bulbs try and produce
i wouldn't bother, i tried it, looks crap and much dimmer
White ones that were originally supposed to be for my mk4 astra here, fitted them in all my switches, got some t5 bulb holders and a load of t5 leds to go in the actual clocks, the mk1 ones are a twunt to get out so mot done them yet but im really happy with the ones in my dash switches and heater controls, (all in white btw) did my old mk2 xe ones years ago in blue and they looked good, apart from being blue of course lol
So what are we saying then.
LEDs are a no. Is it better to replace the the old bulbs with the new type???
Something has to be done, as it's damn right dangerous as it is.

What about them? The car is totally standard, not having horrible dials fitted, just want to see the ones i've got better in the dark.

Still look like you have "hot spots" tho.

I put some LED bulbs in my mums MR2 recently, as the original normal bulbs had gone. They are bright, but the light doesn't spread that far or evenly, so some parts of the dials aren't that well lit.
