Hi lads, the standard engine pulls like a train to be honest but like most people, id like more power from this engine eventually. Now this cars an everyday road car so im not talking full power modifications but what is available camshaft wise? or can you change the injectors for larger items? What can be done to these engines and what would you do for a nice pokey everyday motor? cheers lads :thumb:

If you like the 2l 8v, then getting a 20seh is your first port of call, dirt cheap, and have higher compression, higher lift and duration camshaft and a better ECU then the NE.

Then if you wish, porting and polishing the head, then a good camshaft and vernier, some form of lightened flywheel and some twin 45s should see about 160bhp.

maybe on a fully rebuilt engine

Not at all, the seh is 130bhp standard, and even a retard in his shed can gain 30bhp with a head, cams and 45s.

Thanks for the reply lads, ill have a think about an seh if I was to keep the ne what cams are available? And what sort of gains am I likely to see. The car is nippy as it is and money will be spent on getting her handling good first, shes lowered but coilovers are on the cards :p and I want to polybush her. I think the first thing to do is a full service and fluids change on the engine. Im also after some info on what gearbox to fit

the seh cam is a straight swap apprantly, might be worth checking the lobe sizes tho as there old and more then likely worn down a bit
