ok I've installed my head unit so it's permently on even if the keys are no where near it, it's a sony face-off stereo and I was just wondering is there any chance of it over heating or going pop??

i wouldn't leave it like that mate. some day you will forget to turn it off and run the battery dry.
it wouldn't hurt the head unit.

Mine is wired to permenant live, so when the ignition is off it still works, but as soon as the face is removed it cuts power, 99% of all head units will not stay powered with face off.

its because its a vauxhall. the wires are difference on a vauxhall and you need an adapter from halfords or chalie brown or somehwere to fix it. The +12v perm and the !2v ignition are in the wrong places, you need the adapter.
