Bought this little 1.6 205 gti in the absence of any decent novas, both in price and condition.

123k on it, loads of history - original bill of sale and service history. Had 2k spent in 2005 on a freshen up with receipts from pug.

I had one a few months ago that I had a roll cage and buckets added but the rally scene was too expensive so got this. Plans are to keep standard and finish off the wee niggly bits of the interior. It has a full magnex incl manifold and apex shocks and springs - nice engine that pulls well and is dry. Clifford alarm, proper little piece of 90's history

agreed.. do not attempt to change its looks... they are a great car. my brother had a late 1.9, and it was brilliant.

It's mental the prices just now. For what folk are asking for a nova you can get a Clio 172, 2002-2003 plate!

They do look nice(ish) but from experience the best thing they do is make Nova's feel/looks solid! lol

Sod off! i had a 205 van, the dash was so flimsy and brittle, all the lights/electrics failed on it one after another.. there not much better today on new pugs.

Body wise they've been far better than novas I've viewed. Driving wise they handle better than my nova but that is an xe and it's been over 2 and a half year since I've driven it so my memory will be foggy.

Scott I think we've just been lucky with our solid jam yellows :)

Lovely looking motor. Auto bonnet and late spec lights are nice touches. Same colour as my old 1.9.

Scott, 205's piss all over novas in so many ways. Galvanised shells for starters. And handle as good as some modern hot hatches IMO.

I'd certainly prefer if Nova shells were galvanised too, thats their only flaw to me. How many silly French design flaws does the 205 have that make it a pain to work on?

Thats really clean that. Defo looks b etter with an Auto bonnet too!

If I could be bothered Id definetly have another one (had both a 1.6 & 1.9 already), I much prefer driving GTi;s over Novas.

Fair enough, but a Nova with a cardboard dash still isnt much cop lol

Anyway, enough of the OT spam! Back to the frenchy loving/hating!!!

when the front lower arm bushes go, 205's are really scary... we had a diesel one that used to grab the steering wheel out of your hand on corners...

A mate still has his 205, minus an engine. He was on about a 1600 turbo lump conversion. Cant remember the source of the lump though. Some of the newer gen pugs turbo'd?

Nice 205 and a rare sight in such original condition.

French cars are always unique and the 205 is no exception. They still have a reputation (as in good and interesting) so you will get noticed!

Clean and dry engine. Strut brace too. Engine is fantastic, pulls well, quiet and doesn't smoke.
