I decided to give my car an oil and filter change today and found that someone in the past had striped the thread on the sump bung.
I was going to re-tap the thread but the sump isn't very nice (rusty and dented) and to top it my sump gasket is leaking.
so I have decided to put a new one on but wanted to know if patten part one are any good and whats best get a gasket or just use something like tiger seal.

Use a gasket and proper sealant.
Ensure you get the correct sump, the 1300 SR has a baffle plate in it

http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/acatalog/VAUXHALL_OIL_SUMP_-_OIL_PAN_-_90501528N.html

I wouldn't bother with shiny bolts down there as you won't see them

No idea, I would get that one off Ebay as its cheaper & free postage. Both are non genuine but TBH you can't go wrong with a sump!

as already said.. a sump is just a big tin to catch the oil. its your choice really...seeing as vauxhall haven't made a nova specific sump for 19-20 years, an aftermarket one is probably just as good if not better
