i find my self looking at th 1500 spitfires and im thinking of geting one as a rolling restro project at some point :d
just wondering if anyone here has had many dealings with them good, bad or indiffrent
they rot way worse than a nova...
the 1500 is pretty crap as an engine, the 1300 is more tunable & a lot better..
finding a gt6 & fitting the body from the spit will give you the 2 litre 6 pot & its even better...

the 1500 is alot cheaper then the 1300 and way way way cheaper then a gt6, thats whats swaying me more towrds them
my father has had 1300 spitfires and i do agree there better then the 1500.. but if you want a way forward GT6 or the stag.
they have a stag at the min. but if you have a spitfire. let me know . as my dad has shed loads of panels for them . all new... and if im shore engine bits too . an rear rear drive gear .

so i take it you don't want to buy that old spitfire i've got then........
tj. if you want to blow money on a 2 seater sportscar, buy a seven. more fun, more speed, less rust, and you don't need to buy a flat cap, tweed jacket & a cravat for when you turn up at car club meets

just think it would be a nice entry car to classic motors, parts are easy to find and with that bonnet open there is loads of room to work on it lol
wasnt going to be buying one anytime soon just something to move onto when im done with all this vauxhall tat lol

What exactly makes the 1500 engine worse than the 1300?
the 1300 was a fast revving thing with 75hp from the factory.
the 1500 was designed to try & get round the american emissions laws that were about in the early seventies, so they stuck in a longer stroke engine with pitiful compression, and 71hp, but it just didn't rev as quick
basically all bl sportscars from the early 70's were built with sales in america in mind, so they also had more weight & stupid huge rubber bumpers too... the late 60's type cars were proper sportscars
so i take it you don't want to buy that old spitfire i've got then........]
he may not but i may .. pm me pictures an details
Someones getting some sucky sucky!!! lol
