Open your pump up and see if it is scored\ worn. If its OK redo, worn then new pump.

Use a zlet pump and pick up off Sbs for ultimate reliability

You get a ZLET pump which bolts on, and a modified pickup that suits the ZLET pump (oval hole instead of round?) and sits in the appropriate place in the sump

Yes required a little cutting if running the round tooth belt set up, but its straight forward or ask iof he can do it for you if your not confident

i was thinking the same question about my let i am rebuilding. not sure what to do with the oil pump just leave it alone or fit the sbd gear. for the zlet pump+pick up pipe i think it was starting to get near £400.

There's some for sale by 'Icon' on eBay for about £375. £180 for a new GM pump and £180 for a modified pickup

Edit: Which sums to £360, errr lol

Iirc steve's are cheaper than that and its a saving if it means you only build the engine once

Late one should fit just need to modify the lump on top (file it down a bit to clear the early cambelt backplate)

The genuine zlet oil pump with modified oil pickup cost £320ish with UK delivery they cam be used with early belt set up, with slight modification or direct fit with the later set up.
The later genuine XE/LET pumps are still available but they are only about £40 behind the zlet with pick up price.
Under know circumstance would I use a non-genuine mick mouse oil pump they are rubbish, if you want one I can give you one for free as I will never use it.
