Whats the best method for removing large decals and hopefully leaving the paintwork underneath intact lol?!

Cheers

Grinder lol

Nah, you want a heat gun mate, warm the decals up and they will peel off easliy, its a slow process though, and you will need to go over the area afterwards with white spirit or similar to remove the glue residue

Nope, will take about ten times as long, heatgun ftw mate trust me, part of being a valeter was de-vinyling vans and de-stickering promotional advertising vehicles and suchlike, ive been doing it ten years now, heatgun:thumb:

I took the paint off with a heat gun when removing my gte tailgate decal lol that's why I now use a hairdryer

Yeah you dont want it hot enough to melt paint (which would be too hot to touch btw :p) so id be more willing to say the paint wouldve come off anyways if the vinyl took paint with it, but yes there is a bit of skillz y0 required lol

use the heatgun just got to wave it about a bit if you keep it on one spot then yes the paint will come of lol

Toffee wheel on a drill/grinder and done carefully.
Or a hair dryer/heatgun.

I once did it with a nova life with a few kettles of water if you are really scared about taking your paintwork away.

The technque...... pour the water on and in 5 seconds pull the vinyl off! It's very slow though.

Its large decals I'm removing off my rally Nova so I dare say the hot water method might be a bit long winded lol

Toffee wheel is probably the best bet for decals that size.

But thats only for removing the remaining glue afterwards, you need to peel the decals off by hand, and the glue left behind by decals is soft enough to only need white spirit or other such to remove, its rub strips that have thick rubbery glue that need caramel wheels to remove (and usually need going over with thinners, white spirit and the like)
