Hi I have been roped into helping fit a twinport 1.2 engine into a mates corsa. The engine in the corsa at present is broke and he has just got a salvage yard to drop an engine round to the lockup. What i would like to know is is it just a straight forward swap or do i need the loom or anything from the donor car?

Cheers
Andrew.

what engine was previously in the corsa?

its also a 1.2 twinport was just wondering if there is any stupid immobilisers or anything built into the loom that will cause the new engine not to work in the corsa

I'm removing one of these engines at the weekend! I believe if you use the ECU/BCM/key/chip/pickup/clocks etc from the original loom it should all work fine but I'm no expert

should be a straight swap, keeping the same chip, transponder etc

use some tape to wrap around each plug and write where each one connects and take plenty of pics for reference, you'll be ok

I'm led to believe these engines have a 'transponder' ring on the crank pulley which must be kept with its matching ECU.

I may have misread somthing but look out for it just in case
