ticking over a bit high dont no how to turn it down any one help

Give your idle control valve a clean out with carb cleaner first and see if it makes a difference.

agree with southie, i'm having all sorts of trouble with mine and its centering around the icv. hint - if you go to a scrappies, theres loads of cars from that era that use the same part, vw's and volvo's i've noticed so far

IF you do need a new icv the xe ones the same.Easy to clean out with some carb cleaner though.Also check the rubber hose between the afm and plenum for splits.
The idle screw is on the front of the plenum facing you as you stand in front of the car.Its a brass screw thats in a kind of recess just after the throttle body.
