Exactly! everything in moderation - always that 5% that ruin it by taking it too far. excessive camber looks pants too!

i must admit, i do like a bit of stretch and a bit of camber....however, everything posted in here is utter bollox!!!! these cars must be completely undriveable. cant work out why people think having your rims at 45 degrees to the car is a good idea!!

T230 Celica lol

Seriously, do people actually drive there cars like this, or are these photo shops? lol i dont see the point, if you want a **** handling car, buy a reliant robin, like to see the tossers camber that!
first pic is a celica to as it was yellow lol
I cannot for the life of me think, why anyone would consider doing that to their cars, not only does it look stupid but its fecking dangerous, tyres are not designed to have the weight of the car almost on the sidewalls!!
Utter crap
Surely if you get spotted by a copper you'll be impounded?

So your all asking what kind of people drive these cars?
I would like to draw your attention to the first image, on the tyrewall is definately written the "kang" of the classic Nankang ditchfinder tyre, so clearly these people simply can't afford to get the tyre of the right size and opt for the smaller cheaper alternative lol

Not technically right. Nankang stretch alot nicer than some other tyres and don't distort. As they are cheap it's no big sacrifice when they do end up scrubbed to death, worn massively on the inner walls or shredded by the arches.
first pic is when it was yellow

That Celica was then crashed and work started on a replacement silver Celica
And that second pic shows my point exactly, the tyres arent running on the road properly, you can tell by the skidmark, it looks like something left by a pushbike, btw, rwd converted im guessing as i thought those cerika's were fwd?

correct, as far as i know they all are apart from the gt4?

What he said. The boy who had my schmidts before me had nankangs on for that reason.

I can upload a pic of the fronts that were run with extreme camber for anyone who wants to see.
A little looks okay. but when they try stretch a 195/45 onto a 9j rim its just ridiculous and actually illegal.
believe the yellow was made for drifting mr spud

wouldnt be hard to get the slither of rubber to break traction

AND AT WHAT POINT DID THEY HAVE A GOOD NAME??????

THEY WERE SLICKS & NOT STRETCHED TO FIT.....BUT I THINK THEY INSPIRED THE LOOK
re the OP..
is it me, or are the rims actually a larger diameter than the tyres??? i wonder if they are split rims & simply done for effect, and a tongue firmly in cheek pop at stretched tyres... a bit like the crazee jap body kits on boring saloons

Stretch is more a personal preference thing I think. I personally really like the look of them stretched. I just think when people see cars like that they automatically assume everyone with stretched tyres and camber is a total moron.

That sh*t idea comes from the same country that brought us this:

Call me old fashioned but I like all of the tread pattern that the tyre company I bought my quality tyre from spent millions of pounds developing touching the tarmac. I like to drive my cars properly so I dont want to be worrying that the tyre is going to pop or roll off the rim.

The contact patch of a tyre is small enough as it is without sticking a fcuk off great camber on it

Quite, which is why your grip area comes into the sort of area of these......

let me throw a small spannerette into the works there chaps.......
too much road tyre is also bad...
traction is down to pounds per square inch... so for a given weight, a cars traction depends on having a certain contact patch area on the asphalt. too much rubber on the road will cause nearly as many problems as too little, especially when it rains... aquaplaning is a fairly large contributor to the accident statistics....it also adds to rolling resistance, so will make a car slower too

Ahhh, so refreshing to hear others thinking the exact same thing as yourself, and to find youre not just some old stick in the mud that doesnt understand new fangled trends lol
There are loads round here with silly stretched tyres on their cars, including one lad i know whos tyres are so stretched onto his deep dish alloys, that the sid of the tyre isnt even touching the inner lip of the wheel, its almost half an inch away from it, that to me does not look cool, it looks fecking dangerous and i waouldnt even want to drive a mile on it, nevermind all over the place like he does:eek:
spud, take a soft hammer & when you see it parked up, pop the bead off for him.........

Or shoot him in the face for being so god damn moronic.
my version keeps spud out of the slammer & gives him yet more cred.
195/50/15...i like my tyre size...it lets me corner nicely. i also have slight camber...i much prefer function over form...
