Someone when i pull up at a set of lights or just generally stop, so the engines on tick over, the oil light flickers rapidly? buts fine soon as i pull away again?

Ideas?

Depends on engine speed when idling and what engine, also if the engine is hot.

If the engine is very hot and you are idling below 650 rpm it should be ok but keep an eye on it.

Obviously you have checked the oil level after the car has stood for a few hours?

Yeah oil's fine :), just does it now and then and its normall after long runs, so yeah when the engines mega warm :P

I thought the standard pressure switch for the light is very low pressure so I'd be a little concerned. What oil is in it?

if changing the oil doesn't help it could be the oil switch, try cleaning it up or even swapping it. they aren't big money.

if that doesn't fix it, its probably age & worn crank bearings/oil pump.

Cheers :) will give her an oil change tomorrow, and clean up see if it help, think the crank bearings are getting abit worn, there starting to knock when i pull in a high gear :/

If it's knocking then I'm afraid it's a bit more serious than just low idling. It may go for a while but eventually it will be engine work or probably the cheaper option, replacement?

To be honest its done it since ive had it and ive now done 8k init? and its only done 38k!

Only 38K, sine rebuild or new?

If rebuild, wasnt' done right, since new? Get timing etc all checked out, unless it was an older previous owner who always laboured it...the engine should be good?

I am not the best for serious engine advice, hopefully some of the more expereinced builder shere can give you better advice?

From new mate, elderly women had it.. Timings all good :/

I can't think of anything apart from exessive engine wear from being laboured but at only 38K is pretty scarey, these engines should put up with a fair amount of abuse.

The knocking signifies more than just a dodgy oil light, sounds like big ends or something else major but....

See if anyone else gives you some better advice though as I am not that knowledgeable, hopefully it's not that serious...........
