No it's a Mark one tank with a Mark 2 sender

I tried to fit a mk2 sender to my mk1,
a....it wouldn't physically fit in the hole in the tank and
b....I tested it by connecting the wires and they just wouldn't give a reading so....
c.....I use the odemeter and fill the tank every 200 miles, that's my petrol gauge! and has been since I got it in 2003
Being more serious though, perhaps the sender has just worn out, test by connecting another one to the wires and putting it at empty, half and full.

What's the best way of fixing it am I better off getting a new sender unit
If you can get hold of one to test first, then if the wiring and gauge are ok, see if you can get a working one from a scrappy etc. I don't know how much vauxhall want ofr a new one but, 13 years ago I bought a mk1 sender new, 38 qiud and like all early senders, it lasted 18 months!
