Warehouse Administration.
Qualifications
Nothing really essential to get a job like this, although the usual selection of GCSE's are an obvious advantage - and I also have a couple of extra bits which helped, NVQ3 Business Administration and GNVQ Intermediate IT.
What's it all about then?
Basically I am an office numpty - you know, the usual selection of admin duties, sorting, stapling, printing, data input etc etc etc.
I am responsible, on my own for all of the administration for the warehouse - ie. if something is ordered, its my job to make sure all the paperwork etc is dealt with and the order processed correctly so the goods go out of the door and onto a trailer to be delivered.
Me being responsible for this on my own means I get loads of responsibility and as such earn damn good money for this field of work.
Bets Bits
Working in the alcohol trade, i get free stuff :D
Worst Bits
Plenty of responsibility often means lots of extra hours - on salary, so no overtime.
I got this job through a recruitment agency - in fact i have got alot of jobs through recruitment agencies - just tell them what sort of work you want and they get it for you.
Tell them you are interested in permanant positions should any become available and should any places use that agency to do their interviews etc (which LOADS do these days) your name will be put forward and you will be interviewed.
how did you find out about it?

Just added that to the end obvioulsy while you were replying.
I didnt actually sign up with this agency for this job, i went into the job centre, up to the help desk and said "I want a job in an office, on a computer - what do you have at the moment...?"
They were VERY helpful.
Transport Manager
Qualifications:
none initally but need to take a few exams after a course i'm goin on next year
What's it all about then?
Basically I am an office monkey -
i get orders of animal feed passed to me for delivery. i have to sort the delivery in to areas of the country to deliver, best days to go to the areas, then find vehicles to do the deliveries to the areas making sure all customer requirements are catered for, split the loading tickets down, an pass them to the loading area.
then i have to book in the deliveries with the customers so they know when to be around an expect the order.
then i have to price up jobs and tell the hauliers used rate for the jobs. i then input the load on to my computer system,an when the invoice comes in stamp an sign the invoice an pass to head office for payment!
being responsible for this on my own at 21 means I have loads of responsibility and as i'm young don't earn all that good a wage atm.
Bets Bits
when it's quiet it's very quiet an can get on with personal stuff
Worst Bits
summer months are very very busy with long hours
Plenty of responsibility often means lots of extra hours - on salary, so no overtime. i have to be contactable 24/7
i got this job through hard graft an a lot of fortune due to the bloke who did it before me goin to america to live an no-one else could do it!
Nothing regular about this job or getting into it
Im a dj
Took a long long time to get into it.
not the sort of job you can just apply for, or see advertised in the paper or something.
Started off doing lights for free, then progressed to doing warm up sets for free- got to know managers etc, you prove you can do the job, do it well, and 'pay your dues' by being on the bottom of the ladder for ages, for little if no money.
Now im earning strong money doing something i love and can do well. I would rather work 6 nights a week for 4 hours a nite than one full day- just suits me better.
wages will get even better as time goes on, and more and better nights. Im with a big company that owns something like 30% of the clubs in the uk-and im in one of their newer liquids at the mo.
have to start right at the bottom and work your way up and its a hard climb up the ladder.
Best bits-drinks vouchers, female attention ;), promo records, getting paid well to do something you love is the best thing in the world, being able to enjoy the sunshine during the day and not being chained to an office.
worst bits- late nites f*cking your body clock, hearing damage (5 nights week is severely damaging), passive smoking, pissed up punters being rude and violent, records being stolen, girlfriends hate the job because of the female attention/close proximity to pissed women,
having to be registered self employed ( tax returns suck), having to travel to and from clubs long distances, not much job security at all , backstabbing muthaf*ckers (and there are plenty of them in this business i can assure you)
There you go.

hmmm...
I have not got a permanent job atm, but am...
Qualified TV/Video Avid editor/technician.
Done three years work experience/training program at a local television studios and then went on to College and done a ND in Media and a NC in photography also have a City & Guilds in Television and Video production.
Have won an award at the Co operative young film makers award, also one an award from Eidos for best Urban film entered, have also had a few showings at local Cinemas and on local television.
Dont want to work in the media industry but its always there if needed. The industry is full of backstabbing and undermining, have thought about going to work in a college but dont know if i could hack the stress of lecturing, might do it when im 50
im currently one job agencies bitch lol, i get naff factory work etc while they find me a permanent placement in the automotive/reserach industry (infact today ive had a call to say that theyve been autorised to send my CV to some department managers at ford)
so, soon to be on my way in automotive research etc woo hoo
i have a few naff gcses (the usual scrapped 5 c's lol) two a levels and a so so degree. and no employment documented automotive work lol but ive been doing it for fook knows how long.
If your gonna go through agencies i recomend that you sit on them, call them once a day, be pleasent and chatty, flirting helps lol (in person even handier) and they will get to know you and see what your like and try to not mess you about too much.
good luck
IT Technician been at the school coming up for 2 years, but part time now to accomodate for studies
A Levels but I was also at the school for 7 years so they knew me. The problem with IT support is people want so-called 'experience' and you cant get it without getting there in the first place, if youre interested in this keep trying as it's the workers market at the moment

Clinical Pathologist
Only had GCSE's and A levels with some laboratory experience when I started about 8 years ago. Now they tend to like graduates, and I'm currently doing my BSc in Biomedical Sciences.
A friend at college applied for the job and I took a mental note of the details while she wasn't looking. I applied, did alot of bullshitting and hey presto!
Pay is good, you get a free pension, shares and healthcare. Career prospects are endless, but its taking time to get there. Quite a stressfull job trying to get blood test results out to tight deadlines.
