Hi guys,

I am looking to try and find out what the most common tyre sizes are at the moment on your daily car.

Basically I need to order a stock of new Tyres for the new business and don't want to waste what small funds I have by buying Tyres that I am going to struggle to sell so am looking for you guys to help me out please:d

Thanks for your time folks:thumb:

David.

take a look at some other tyre places websites..

ask your wholesaler what a common stock package would contain, then ask about sale or return,

215 or 225 45 and 40 17's come on nearly everything, which is why all the drifters aim to run them as there's a sea of partworns out there. That's gotta be a good place to start.

Most large tyre companies offer a small stock of tyres on a sale or return basis. Ie they give you a small stock which will always be theirs, as you sell the tyres you purchase them and replace the stock. All depends on your business though. have you tried B.I.T.S?

That is a half guess but I know it's somewhere around there, I actually had a look at the sidewalls on one a while ago as I couldn't believe the size of the tyres on the thing, think I looked up a new price for them as well and it went up to something like £400 a corner lol

my mate works in kwik fit and gives some of my mates part worn tyres he gets in, when i asked him for 195/45/16s he said barely any cars run and he never sees them? said he could get 50s easy though cos thats what clio sports run? might just be lying to me so he doesnt have as many tyres to change lol

Common sizes i fit day to day.

175/65/14 - H/T Rated
185/65/15 - H/T Rated
195/65/15 - H/T Rated (And a common small van size, usually R rated on Vans)
185/55/16 - T/V Rated
195/55/16 - T/V Rated (Size seems to be appearing on newer Corsa & Clio models)
205/55/16 - H/V Rated
215/50/17 - V Rated
225/40/18 - V/W Rated
245/40/18 - V/W Rated

The size's i've posted are what pass through my work mostly.
205/55/16 & 195/65/15 being most common, a majority of that is motability rather than paying customers though.

Cheers Archie. That's a great help.

I was speaking to a guy up the road from my unit who sells used cars and he said he usually spends around 2-300 per week on getting part-worn tyres for cars.
Fingers crossed I get enough part-worn Tyres in to supply him.

No problem mate.

If theres anything i can help with drop me a PM i'd be happy to help.

Just watch with part worns, sometimes a tyre might look perfect til you blow it up and its got a big bulge on the sidewall lol

Not fantastic tbh, I used to get a set of Kumho KU31's which will grip a hell of a lot better than wanli's, fitted for £140-150.

That's a good reason for your price, but not a good reason to buy from you. It's a difficult situation I realise but I'd talk your way round a few suppliers and try and get somewhere near the larger companies.

TBH the place I used to get that price was only a small fitters in what I believe was a converted house, they could get 2 cars in at a time max, but they were cheap and more importantly did a good job, careful with painted wheels, used torque wrenches to tighten rather than just firing them on with a windy gun etc. They were honest too, if they could fix a tyre for a tenner rather than sell a new one at £100 they'd tell you that and be glad to spend the time on it. If you can't compete on price, compete on service.

That's what am hoping to do mate, there is actually more profit to be made from repairing a puncture than selling a new tyre.
I am just trying to get all the basics in so I can get the place open, new Tyres are so expensive but I really don't want to turn away work.
