well i got the wiring to do first an alot of wiring . its so bad

gteben
21-05-12, 10:09 PM
im honest she has 80mm spax gas suspesion on it . an strut brace. but my main goal at the min is getting the wiring done . so i can see what the engine is doing.. the way she handles an drives is amazing. ive got a funni feeling tho she has a stage one set up . as i dont remember these gte going that fast. the exhaust system is a joke to be fair. i dont know what they done but boy you can hear it before you see it . i dont like what they have done to be poor thing. so im gonna get in for a operation an wear a mask an open her up to be fair as there is somethink not adding up . my dad has gone over the body an found only that hole. has he is a panel beater an fab welder by trade. its no hard work for him . the engine side my mate is gonna rebuild it for me if i want an only charge me beer an parts he needs for it . another mate of mine has a t3 turbo an was on about giving it me . but i dont think i wanna go down that road just yet.
but if im honest all in.. its my child hood car and now i have one i have a very long road to go before i get her finished. im still shock't she passed a mot . i really canrt see how cause of the seat belt naffed an every hanging an lose inside wear people sit an more over on that. the lights didnt work until i taken about a mile of rubbishing wiring out an rewired it . so today has been a hard battle .
im going up to gloster on wednesday to have the wiring loom done an new clocks fitted an maybe they will tell me what is going on . im taking 450 with me just in case they have to do more work on it . but im shore they can fix it .
the fun thing tho today i got my speedo working . but not shore if its reading right again. got new cable only cost me 14 pound . but the clocks are making a really bad noise .

managed to also fix the central locking today an get some sound of the alarm :D

but down side is again the wiring they have done an left everythink hanging behind the dash is a real let down . so i think ill be stripping the hole thing down just to see what ive got left. and just put another dash in all together if im honest.

well people i hope i have made some sence of this. but there is a big list go to thru and im kinda nervous of doing it . but im shore with the help of you lovely nova supporters . you can help me keep this girl alive

thank you for reading my post

i have to get it done . i start on it at 8am an finish at 11.00 or 12.30 am . the neighbours dont mind aslong as i stop the grinding and banging about 8. which i went to each house an asked . an they was cool with it :) so im a happy boy. so after 8pm i start doing the wiring again. and news up date the panels have been made an completed all the welding bar the front end slam panel. which i will start in the morning . i now have a water sensor working. the only thing that dont work is the speedo.. still waiting for a tranducer that works... abit gutting really . dad is on about spending £140 an order one from germany.. takes 10 days but atleast it is new :D bonus really.. ive got loads of pictures to put up. but im too tired an dirty at the min. and i have a sun tan off the welder lol. a nice cold pint would go down really well at the min.... lol dad is now getting me a cold tin from my cooler (heaven) ive even treated the nova. giving it a new filter an some nice new oil. going to flush the rad an everythink 2morro too. an maybe sort the selector out see if i can get it any better.
all i need now is bolts an screws for the dash and its in a fitted :D kinda be greatful when its done . if im totally honest as i would love to get this puppy back on the road

Mk2 dash in a GTE nooooooooooo if you really wanted the digi dash I had one in my 1.3sr and all I done was cut the dash to the exact shape so no filler or paint was needed but now I prefer the GTE 6 dial speedo.

About the front suspension turret strengthing plates i have no pictures to show you. There not that important anyway but all GTE/GSI/SRI had them. Your turrets could have been changed at some point as they do rot

Dad has just told me when he done the front end welding . Realised that two new suspension turrets have been put on . He also check't the I'd tags an they match up ..... Be honest im
Relieved that it is a gte an not a crappy reshell tempt. And also just got off the phone from the guy I got the car off ....and he confirmed that his body shop cut the old ones out .. an had them refitted the way they was ment to be fitted plus the spray job . So I'm more happy to confirm its a gte now . Had me proppa panicing then lol ... But regarding the strengthimg plates they are only spot welded in to place . But now i know about it . im going to put the plates on . But I know its not a reshell

All this time and effort your putting in and then you ruin it with neons and bogged wiring in the engine bay. Just hope it doesn't catch fire

gteben
30-06-12, 12:21 PM
Its all temp wiring making shore it all works . Nuffin is finished at all on wiring . I've got proppa wiring covers coming an also new connectors . The wiring your seeing is all bear . Wait until you see the picture of it on Monday when its all finished. But yes I couldn't agree more with the neons but they have been rip't out again ..
I have to point out to I'm not a sparky. I'm only doing what I see fit . And plus i only have a diagram to go off . I'm trying my best but granted I'm not the best by far

well the nova is coming back off the road to have a engine rebuild now ... not happy with how its running ... an atleast with the engine out i can respray the engine bay and build a brand new loom for the engine bay instead of having loads of dead wires an such .... does anyone have info on the e16se engine on what little bits can be done to improve the performace of the engine..... as i haave a e16se with only 3k of wear on the engine as back in the 1989 this engine was taken out an stored in vauxhall warehouse and after a long time being there the gentleman who use to live across the road got the engine given him as he works at vauxhall in the repair shop . an had it sat in bits for the best part of 15years. an seen my nova in the garage. when he was visiting his father. an told me about this engine. an as told me i can have it. so really i canrt wait to get it....
new engine... just cleans to the cleaned up an put back together.....
thank god to my best buddy ... who has a contact who can get me trade parts if not free for my car.. so shopping list here i come an when the engine. an lets build a new engine.. that will last years.... also good chance but i need to know.. the guy who works at vauxhalls mate. has a f16 gearbox that is near enuff new. but once again sat in his shed... an possiabley willing to give that me too ...... but will it fit on to the e16se engine ... as i didnt ask them the question?? only time will tell.........

but all in alll the car is having its new steering rack tomorrow.... the rack only sat me back £22 brand new still in mint box. been sitting at car parts for a long time on the shelf...
im reallly thinking of buying the new petrol tank they have.....

i have heard a good rumor that there is a brand new 2.0 litre red top sitting in a shed just out of the bridgenorth. buy got it when he had his car. but written the car off kept the engine and all the stuff for it... so ill be chasing that up in the next couple of weeks...

Well ive start working on the nova again . After spending some saved up money an selling some rc boats im back in businessso far ive managed to pick up a full mk1 dash in really good nick . Front set of head light. The rear support shelfs an parcel shelf
still on the look out for bottom try shelf for the mk1 dash an the clamp unit for the rear seats
Well anyways . Last couple of days ive been taking the gte apart once again as im putting it in a friends body shop to have it complete repainted an all the rot taken out where I missed the first time round an of course put it right this time
ive got some pictures to upload of what happening .but over the coming months more will get done.
Need to find a couple of place to rebuild an cover the front seats and of course new door cards
also on a very good note managed to find a untouched gte loom with no brakes or connectors missing off it
