^ What stand alone do you fancy using? I guess you want this in a nova?

Derv stand alone starts at around 2k and thats only for a few CR engines, Nothing off the shelf as it is for the CDTI I don't think. So looking at upwards of 2k just for the ecu.

hhmm that blows that idea out of the window, could they be backwards enginered to run of a standard ecu, i was really just wondering if a cdti conversion is possible, as they are pretty good engines and a performance alternative to clets and zlets

That would make a very very fast nova indeed, had a astra van on hire for a few weeks and that was quick

You "could" use the standard ECU, However unlike XE's / LET's etc you have to deal with the other sensors and CAN related ecu's which are in the standard vehicle but would not be used in your nova.

There are a few company's who make CAN controllers, all this does is tricks the OEM ecu to believe the other stuff is still there and working fine.

But your looking at big money again as there is no off the shelf stuff for the CDTI.

It would be good....just begs the question why you wouldn't just get something with a CDTI in it.....

Plenty of small block 8V's which could be good fun. Don't have to have a C20Let to have fun.

I am trying to work with a US company on CAN controllers for non-performance related reasons more Fuel eco and reliability etc...

Either way, Its not that easy....

Buy standalone (£££) or Don't Bother.

cheers for the advice mate, i'll leave it to the pro's as my budget wouldnt reach that far, i was just thinking of doing something a little different, but its more than i could do alone. Never know might give someone else an idea

I would love to do more Derv stuff but limited to CR engines (mostly) with standalone diesel.

Got a Merc with a OM605 which will be good for around 450HP and lots of ft/lbs
