My 35K Cavalier Calibre Resto

After quite a few people asking me about one of my current projects, I asked if I could start this thread- Sorry it's not a Nova guys!

Anyhow in July 2009 I bought this genuine 1 owner 35K Cavalier Calibre which is original. It came up one afternoon at about 3pm and I was down to get it by 8pm, it was a 3.5 hour trip one way.
At this time I had another Calibre which I was restoring but this was too good to miss out on.

I have been speaking to my son recently about purchasing a Carcoon, and to my suprise there one was in the hallway a couple of days ago. The wife bought it for me as a birthday present.
Not bad for £525, even more so as I didn't have to put a penny towards it :lmao:

Cheers Edd, the car is very solid indeed. I'll have to check the part numbers for the mudflaps, if I can't find it on the EPC i'll dig them out.

Yes Niek the other is a SRi 130, not a Calibre but basically the same thing underneath. The Calibre is based on the 130.

Wow that's a hell of a parts collection youve got there dude, ill be keeping an eye on this one, there cant be many calibre's left these days, liking the SRi 130 too, a mates dad used to have a dark blue hatch variant, seemed to go like a bullet back in the day!

lollollol I think it's the right font but the wrong colour for you mate, but I had the exact same badge new in black x2 which I sold :cry: Can try and get one for you if you want?

Yes they came out on E reg but there was 20+ F reg late registered ones too. One Calibre I know that was in and around Somerset off hand was E70FTL.

OK A massive long shot, my cousin said F915 rings a bell to him. He is not sure if it was the Calibre or his Nova GSi he had... do you have anything for that start of the reg plate?

Do you know the owner of the one from Somerset area? Could I contact them and ask them to check there log book to see if it is the one?

That reg plate would be F615JAA if it's a Calibre, there was alot of them on an F reg with plates F601-622JAA. Unfortunately F615 was last taxed in 2000, so there's not much
chance that's still around :)

I just found a list of the registrations and the F915 is not on there... Just spoke with my cousin and told him the reg and he said it could be as the E could look like an F or something... No idea... Can we contact the current owner of the car to ask them?

So there was a F615... That would be a massive shame if it is not on the road anymore... 2000 is around the time it went from the local area so they must of scrapped it :(

Wouldn't suprise me if it was scrapped TBH, they weren't worth anything then really.

You could fill out the DVLA V888 form to get information on any reg you would like, only costs £5 :)

I know Yogi yes, we're very good friends, he bought a 130 saloon off me a few years ago and a Calibre I restored a couple of years ago lol This Calibre is a keeper for me, only sold the previous restored Calibre because I bought this one.

Only just noticed this comment mate sorry!
Plan with this one is to get it as best as I can tbh, going down the concourse route with it as i've wanted to do it to a Calibre. Always said back in the early 90s that i'd probably be still messing around with one now and look what's happened lol.. Funny how things turn out. Don't think i'd be scared of driving it, it would only come out on the odd weekend when the sun is out and for the shows.
So this as a show car and the Sri130 to drive around as much as I like.. Best of both worlds :d

Managed to get 4x brand new Uniroyal tyres for the car, which originally came on Calibres when new, which can also be seen in the original Calibre brochure.

A virtually new leather steering wheel, Calibres normally have the plastic type on them with the odd few with the leather one, I was blown away by the condition of this one!
