It was a good Rally and won by a Skoda 130LR but a well sorted one bored out to 1600cc TB's on it 6 speed sequential sccr box and lots of money spent on it.

Some brilliant pics there Graham. You have the Corsa A/Nova looking awesome. Really like the scoda 130 RS They are a pretty nice looking car.... For a Skoda!

No the 130RS was all ways a good looking Skoda, My navigator for this rally Phil Williamson is putting together a 130RS replica just now I'll try and get some photos of it.
The Orange car under the Fabia R2 cup tent won the rally it's a 130LR.

i had a 120 for a few months, and it was truly hilarious to drive....crap power, but a lot of fun

Some guy's do put the 1500cc in out of the Favorit as it a strong engine having 5 main bearings to the old motor with just 3 big end bearing but the genuine 130's don't.
They can get up 150bhp out of they but they don't last long and the gear box is also a problem with this power.

The 130 RS and LR's are very different from the road car they have many specialized parts to those modes that where not on the road car's.

the group b 130rs was putting out about 170hp with a crossflow head & twin carbs.. they were truly immense cars, a triumph of hard work & ingenuity over hard cash

Sorry to bust you bubble Mowgli They where cheating like hell !!, since I've been here I've meet a few old Skoda mechanics and they all said that the after scrutinering on the next road section they would put a 1.5 engine in the cars and before the end of the rally but the 1.3 back in, the 1.3 can not make more than 150 hp before it goes bang.

well, you learn something every day... it wouldn't be too hard to do an engine swap in a skoda iirc

i know about the old secret service halts on the RAC rally, a farmer i know used to rent his yard out to a certain large works team for unnofficial repairs.

Yer I did not know they where doing full motor changes until I meet the old Skoda guys. They still are out and about around the club rally scene here.
They could do a fully engine and box in 15 mins.
