Hi all im just trying to get my head round this contraption. Here is the SBD wiring diagram

http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Info_sheets/Alternators/ALT-SM2%20wiring%20instructions.gif

for the two spade pins does that mean there needs to be an ign live on the vertical pin and the dash charging light wire(blue/white strip) need to be on the horizontal?

Cheers Gareth

But surely the vertical pin must be connected to an earth somewhere? If the ignition light is supposed to work? The horizontal pin is shown as a (ignition) switched live

I'll try hooking an ign live to the motor

the vertical one is obviously the trigger connection for the alt light, so the blue/white should go there, and the ign+ve to the other one, and the bolted terminal has the big red lead to the back of the starter, which in turn goes to the battery.

please don't tell me you bought this kit complete from them?? its a kubota tractor alternator, and can be got cheap

I've got a similar alt. I think i joined the 2 smaller wires together, which means i don't have a battery light, which doesn't bother me as i've got a volt gauge, but it charges fine..
