this may be a tech post but ive knicked it from my general chat post. admin please move if u feel necessary? ( i knicked it from another post in general)

COOLANT................ i havent got any and im running pure water - is that a problem until the winter????

Err yeah, Steel block and plain water, what do you think is going to happen to your waterways and rad in your nice clean engine...rust thats what. Antifreeze (coolant) also has rust inhibitor built into it.

Best thing to do is drain out the water, refill with a few litres of antifreeze and top up with distilled water. Much better cooling and no corrosion.

what mixture shall i run then???

cheers

Do a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water (sort used for car batteries and steam irons etc).

Any good antifreeze will do (blue/green). We use red/pink stuff on the VAG cars at work but that could block ur heater matrix so stick with the standard stuff.

50/50 mix is best for all round use. In extreme cold areas (my womans heart) 80/20
