Alright lads, been reading through articles about coilovers, some mixed comments. Want a decent set for my mk1 GTE, any recommendations? Seen a few on ebay but they are from Germany etc
Currently have a second hand set of FK shocks and springs.
because they are from germany & tuv approved, it doesn't mean they are any good... german roads are the smoothest i've driven on..
save up & buy some gaz

Yeah seen gaz ones, gonna have to save some serious pennies then. Cheers
Ebay TUV approved £150 cheese rods are pretty poor, and will fall apart just after your warranty expires, or at least the 3rd set will :p
Gaz are very high quality, decent performance, cheap dampers and their service is outstanding.
Ohlins 5 way adjustable are serious pennies lol
unless its a track car i would go with decent shocks and springs instead of coil overs
I've had on mine..
Avo, FK, Koni and 2 cheaper sets. All have been crap, leaked, rusted and died.
I saved up and got GAZ, best coilovers i've had. Might have cost alot, but i've not leaked in 3years and i run mine very very low. Very very well made. Handle the best out the lot too.

I had GAZ on my Ka and thought they were terrible. When I have the funds I'm going for a set of KW. Awesome quality kit, not cheap but worth every penny for the stainless steel bodies!

Not sure how that's better than aluminum bodies o_0

Which ones are aluminium bodied sorry?
stainless don't rot like the ally ones and therefore you don't get fubarded locking rings that need cutting off
with the ally ones, you need to grease them & then duck tape them to make the threads last any amount of time... not a good look
