Cant quite work this one out,
When i turn my engine on it runs ok, when i turn the key to the off position, the speedo dials dim and the engine still runs, im thinking i have a live somewhere that shouldnt

The Big red goes to the battery
The ignition live ( black ) - is going to the old coil feed wire ( i've replaced the clear coated with normal wire )

Anyone have any ideas ? ive also wired up all of the dash lights but i undid the wiring to see if it made any difference and it didnt.

Edit - thought i'd aslo mention im running the fuel pump from a switch without the fuel pump relay, did this on my old c20xe corsa and didnt cause a prob but maybe it could be the cause ?

Unplug your clocks and try again, i had this issue as my membrane on the back of the clocks was fudged, would start and stop fine without them in, with the clocks in it would fire up then stay running as the tracks on the back were shorting together

Not as yet, was fine until i put a different engine in.

The ignition live is working as it should as its showing no volts when i turn the key into the OFF position

Was maybe thinking the alternator is still keeping it running :

I have 3 wires on the alternator, 2 im not sure about.

1 - battery live
2 - black ign wire
3 - blue/white wire

Im running the black ign and the blue/white on the same 8mm nut, is this right ?
As there is no where else for the battery light to go on the alternator ( blue/white wire ) so presumed it goes to the 8mm nut

Think from a little research the blue/white wire should be on its own 8mm nut, will try this tomorrow and see what happens

Yeah you don't need an ignition live to the alternator. Just main live and the blue/white wire. Disconnect the black wire and see what happens
