I bought and watched 'NED' yesterday it was a really good film, like most British films it was a lot more gritty and real then the Crap yanks churn out  , I'm going to start a British film collection and just wanted to know what ones you guys own and what ones to avoid :thumb:
Hopefully Scotland isn't really like the film portrays but it wasn't until I went to Manchester for 2 weeks that I realised shameless was a documentary.

:wtf: Italian Job is a true British classic...I also thought Harry Brown was a really good film
try gangster no.1 and dead mans shoes
Dead Mans Shoes is one of my favourite films.
Gangster #1 is great too, Paul Bettany is really good in it. Its just let down by Malcolm McDowell and David Thewlis's immense overacting lol
Maybe also try The Long Good Friday
[edit] Don't forget 28DL if you want to break the 'British-film-makers-only-do-gangster-movies' mould lol

Definitely check out The long Good Friday, its a quality film. Unleashed is a fun film too, ok its not that British seeing as its a Jet Li film, but it is set here and has Bob Hoskins as a gangster in it again, "****ing pyjamas!"

Bullet Boy was alright i thought, there is some quality titles in this thread a few i havent seen so will be looking out for them.
Im a big fan of British Film as said better than the yanks versions

All I got was a belly full of English Channel
lol

The firm is good but i didnt think much to 'away days'
Isnt 'dead man running' a british film, thats funny as feck, 'Tamer Hassan and Danny Dyer' most of the ones already suggested are really good films, if youre into your old skool then 'weekender' is another class one to watch, similar vein to 'human traffic' :d

Do any cars roll over and blow up because if they do its not for me l
great british films... how about carry on camping / screaming / up the khyber... true classics
the ladykillers (original not remake) awesome
anything with alec guinness really......
brighton rock, the original with richard attenborough, not the remake
the dambusters.... it should be played before all euro 2012 games in the england dressing room....
the long memory. a film noir starring john mills, its got more atmosphere & london grittiness than all of the modern gangster flicks put together.

My bird loves all the carry on films as she use to watch them all when staying at her Nans

:tumble:
come on, you can't work out what a film called eden lake is about??????
lake gives you an idea of being out in the country,
eden is to give it a nice sounding name, but you just know evil will befall some poor unsuspecting couple who go there.........
there, you don't need to watch it now....
What about Holiday on the Buses ? lol
Cass, Harry Brown, Rolling with the nines.

The Business, Severence, Doghouse, Goodbye Charlie Bright, The Mark Of Cain, The Devils Playground, I.D, Outlaw, Chopper (Australian but judging by what you already have you'll like it). Steer well clear of Away day's and Green Street 2 as they are sh1te.

Not sure if I'd classify Alien as a brit film though... hmm
produced in the uk so yep, constitutes a british film by definition.
granted GHP is ****, british and has eddie and richie in it so its worth a watch up until the stupid puking scene
well, ok co-produced

Wow, sammys super t shirt! thats the film I have half remembred from my childhood, but my memory of it was so sketchy I wondered even if it was real! I must watch it again, all I remembered was that there was a t-shirt with a tiger on it that made a kid run really fast, and me wanting that t-shirt so I could run fast too! :)

I missed Shaun of the Dead when it was released at the cinema, saw it a few years ago and thought it was ace!
I also saw last week, which I hadn't seen for a long time , Four Weddings and a Funeral, made by Channel 4 films . I laughed so much I woke the boy up !!!
The funeral part is so sad, but then turns funny again within 1 line of dialoge ! Brill !

I haven't read the rules but I'm sure murder and grave robbing are a no no, so yes thank you and please I would like to borrow said dvds
alien was made in the uk..
I know, a lot of films are. But it was American financed, american written and only two of the cast were brits
Brighton Rock is absolutely dog muck. That has to be one of the worst films i have ever seen.
Some of my personal faves are...
Essex Boys,Rise of the footsoldier, football factory -which has the best line ever in a film "i cant wait to see your fanny!" LOL lol
Quadraphenia is good also.
steviegsi
10-05-12, 09:04 PM
Rise of the footsoldier
Get Carlton Leaches book 'muscle' to compliment the film.... The mental-ness of them all and what they got up to is an excellent read, and comes accross alot better than what they could portray in a 2 hour film. Still not a bad show though. :thumb:
Brighton Rock is absolutely dog muck. That has to be one of the worst films i have ever seen.
i assume you mean the colour remake version, as opposed to the classic b/w one
Quadraphenia is good also.
i never thought it was as good as the hype though.
what about the rocky horror picture show???? that should be the official png film......
Yes the 2010 ??? remake, proper garbage was that.
Quadraphenia is best loved for the bikes and the brawling, nothing else.
"puts your hands on your hips..lol.........."
Where is Richard O'Brien these days? not seen him since the Crystal Maze........
Another one i like is Bronson that guy is a nut job!
bronson was an ar$ehole..
he commited an armed robbery & then spends the rest of his days in jail because he is too stupid to simply do his time without kicking off at everyone.....
a film glorifying him is about as bad
Mr Nice
film is mediocre compared to the book BUT if you are a mongtard that doesnt read lol, its a good surface scratcher

20-05-12, 01:49 AM
Kes classic film, well worth a watch.
Then you have:
A Clockwork Orange which is arguable Stanley Kubrick finest works,
TT, Closer to the edge,
I Superbiker (good but wanting to be closer to the edge),
Bonded by blood which is about the Rettendon murders (everyone knows a cockney **** who knows more than anyone there at the time)

Technically he is just institutionalised, not a "nut job". He has never murdered or killed anyone.

Best part of the film is that shoot out sequence.
Stupid hoodies remind me of the mogidashu militia in Black Hawk down, pointing their little guns in the general direction and squeezing the trigger with their eyes closed.
**** ending though.
