View Full Version : New job (sort of old job)
After getting made redundant I decided I wanted a break from truckering. So gave my old boss a ring and he nom'd my arm off.
So I've gone from driving a brand new Scania to this...

And in the back is this...

What will you be spraying ?
Hope it's not paraquat lol
We use the nomix setup for kerbside spraying, still got all my tickets for boom spraying.
It's funny how folk look at you when you jump out the cab with a white paper suit on with white wellies and a mask lol
PPE overkill but funny,
Nice to see your back in the land of work :)

So you have your PA licenses or do they not call them that now ? so Roundup then
Yeah pa1 pa2 and pa6 iirc lol. Did them years ago but they never expire. Its basically round up but a cheap unnamed version.
Bazil, why do you have wear all that lot? We don't even need gloves.
You could go old skool raving in that suit lol

Maybe you don't need to as glyphosate is not toxic to us and most animals. many years ago I saw a sales rep drink the stuff.
True, still get the odd idiot screaming at you they think you are killing their dog lol
you were spraying paths in your old job, but you just used urine.......
so i assume you will be doing biggish miles, what's your area..

Aiming for 15 plus miles a day as that's when you start getting bonus. I used to average 25 miles a day but will need a few weeks to ge back doing that many.
Starting of in Caterham, that should keep me busy for a few days :)

Do all your jobs involve driving loads then lol
No, was a bar man many years ago, worked in a sports shop before that, even had a go in an office but that wasn't for me. First proper job was as a lifeguard when I left school. Do like driving though. lol

Can't spray in the rain so just affects the bonus as I'll just sit in the van playing on the internet. lol
sorry, sprinters are ar$e. big van tiny engine... wrong...
i think hobbits gaffer knows what is good for his job..
so where is your burrow now then hobbit??
Staying with my dad just outside Eastbourne.
oh yes, 150hp 2.2, (or 2.5 for the 5 cylinders's) compared to what, a 2.4 transit driving the front wheels? sprinters go like f*ck, and a lovely to drive, transits are a chore to drive. and hobbit's gaffer has bought a relay, so the less said about that the better lol lol
when driving round, i see a lot of languard vans, and tons of relays....none of them are lying broken down on the side of the road...
sprinters are just not worth the hype.
that pedal tractor weighs about 1/2t so the van can easily cope. they need space for storage, and he's hardly a 'van driver', so it won't get wrecked
Hobbit
We were given masses of PPE, so I'd rather it got dirty than my high viz stuff lol just bin the paper suits and get more, saves the washing machine a job
It's the nomix system so it's a doddle to use, it's so simple even I understand it lol

you know you have been given to much ppe when you recieve a 'bump cap'
sprinters are just not worth the hype.
Wholehearted agreeance.Fukking shyte they are,and in immature hands, they bring out the cunnt in folk,"zomfg its a powrfullz merrkkk!!" Driving them like w4nkers.
No dikkhead.Its not.
try fixing the injectors......ball ache
then towing it 60 miles and then needing a recon engine cos the crank's gone
then 13 months later driving to durham to rescue the driver cos it put a rod thru the block...
oh, the driver is 50 & it was on a 56mph limiter on regular work.....
we sold it for cash & replaced it with a transit 85t280 fwd 2.0 td van & it hasn't missed a beat.

The only problem with transits is how easy they still are to break into
not really a problem when you only use it to go to brickworks to collect brick samples....

until a pikey finds out what's in there and wants to build his dags a new house
lab samples in batches of 8...desford brickworks doesn't have a gate.......the pikeys could easily get as many as they want.. but dues to being lazy, they don't..
any way, hobbit, we need an in the tractor seat photo...

I'm not bothered what van I get, they used to give us LDV convoys, so this thing is a massive improvement. lol
