Anybody ever had a leak from the top of the gearbox? Mine has started to leak all over the driveshaft and the inside of the n/s wheel, wondered if it may need a gasket? Or maybe just sealer of some sort?

are you sure its not coming out of a driveshaft seal as it will fling it everywhere once it hits a driveshaft? are the cv's fully in? is the diff in need of its bearing tightening?

if it is leaking out of the top, is it the breather or is it the shifter box joint??

have you by any chance just topped it up?

Its coming from the top, then dripping down below, just wondered if it was maybe a gasket near the selector thats seems to be the area its coming from

What box is it? Gasket sets are dirt cheap. I got a F16/F18/F20 seal set for £7 off ebay. Drive shaft seals and every single gasket too.

In all the Vauxhalls we've had (most of them for many many years) I've never seen them leak like that or at all for that matter.

agreed. the shifter box is easy enough to remove & even a smear of sealant will do it.

is the box over full? have you undone the level bumg on the lhs of the box near the diff?

I had a leak from the selector housing it just was not bolted down tight enough.

Ive checked that, think it may need a new gasket for the selector

Only four 11mm bolts to remove the selector turret...disconnect the gear linkage at the plastic UJ, put the box in neutral and lift out. You will probably need to twist it round a bit as you lift it out though
