What is the best way of turning lip on the rear arch up to give more clearances for the tyre other than getting a lip rolling tool or just hitting them with a big hammer .

Best meaning... Least paint loss?

i would say a arch roller as you do the least damage with it

yeah arch roller would be best. also someone once told me you can gently heat the paint with a heat gun and it wont crack as easily

Well it is a rally car so I was thinking of putting some small cuts into the lip and then knocking the cut segments up with a soft face hammer.
Would this work has anyone done it like this or would it be a right mess ?.

how much clearance are you after?? i used a 4 1/2" grinder to skim a few mm off.... i prefer the idea of the lip for strength

Good question mowgli I'm not sure more the better as I use different wheel and tyer sizes dependent on the weather and temperature and type of stage we running on.
I have from 13inch rims to 15inch and 170 to 195 tyers.

If thats the case, just cut it near the round of the arch, and right near the back and then gently work along it with a rubber mallet and have another the side of it to take the hit (like metal working with dollys etc) and heat them up before with heat gun and during to stop to much paint crack etc, then seal it inside the arch once its flat against its self.

i run 185/55r15 on et49 offset with 30mm lowered springs. i needed to only take a couple of mm off the lh arch. i carry plenty of people & junk in it & clearance under the arch seems ok.
