Ahh i thought i recognised that car from the first pic, thats an ex-members car, was a Lincolnshire car most if not all of its life iirc, it had a GTE reshelled into it and was then bought by Ste Porter on here, it was his mrs car (also a member) and they had engine bother with it so Ste xe'd it, will be well built and a strong one im sure as Ste is a bit of a perfectionist to say the least lol

Welcome to the nuthouse by the way, thought you may appreciate some info on your cars history (thats if you didnt already know it:d)

thanks spudly would be very appreciated matey. and pete i will do mate feels great to drive feels very firm and precise and engine pulls like a train. going to give it a good service the week end and maybe fit some 288's to it then next thing on my list is to register it as a 2.0 as still down as being a 1.2 at the minute just waiting for the logbook back i should be the 5th owner

3 monthly apearance spud lol
I have been about just not posted much as I got loads going on at the min.
most of you don't know but I bought my cav turbo back and grey of here's imaculate nova claires cav turbo my 4x4 nova and claires Saab nova project put on those the new house needs gutting and a re vamp the snake breeding done 2 more xe conversions in 2 weeks for mates and in the middle of fitting a 2.3 turbo lump in a volvo 360 you could say I am a busy boy.
Did I mention im now back full time on the lorrys aswell lol

That out the way welcome my friend nice to see that old gal is still going well.
I sold it to a forigner down London way who I will say didn't look after it the best so its nice to see its ok
The engine I must say is one of the quickest standard xe motors i have built and no exageration i have built 100s

If you want any details just ask and as for pics if someone like spud wants to grab some of my fb and post them there welcome i know there's some on png when we had it at pvs last year should be in the events reports

I only had it a few weeks after i xed it and that's why its a simple straight forward conversion as i did it to sell it on.how ever don't be fooled it wasn't bodged to shift it it was done right as if it didn't go i would have kept it that and as you just found out I'm very well known in the vaux world and that car wears my name. I wouldn't let anything with me assosiated to it be below a decent standard as i have a very good rep for my vauxhalls country wide and i intend it to stay like that cheers steve

how do fella yeah the lad i had it from said he got it from a polish dood in london. car aint in that bad shape realie what i have seen so far anyways. looks like it has recently been undersealed. main thing that lets the car down is the corners of the front bumper arn't connected to anything and the same on the rear bumper other that that not realie too bad. i'm hoping on getting it back to its former glory over the next couple of months.

and any pictures out there of the car are more than welcome to be posted up the more the better matey.

ste porter
05-05-12, 11:15 AM
oil presure gauge was working mate when i sold it. Have a look at the back of the oil pump there should be a small barrel type sender at the back of it with 2 wires going to it ones a plug ones a ring terminal with a 7 mm nut on top. Make sure it hasnt been pulled of it when the idot that had it did the clutch

ste porter

As for engine spec mate i brought the lump of a friend that had had it stood for 6 years.
it had been rebuilt with polished knife edjed crank and all new bearings ect a few tho before it was pulled out his astra.
I bought it and pulled it to bits because it had been stood.
it had (from memory proberly more though)

new sump gasket
oil pick up o ring
shortened sump bolts to go with gasket
a few core plugs
front crank seal
rear crank seal
cambelt kit
water pump
head gasket
stem seals
valves re lapped
inlet gasket
ex gasket
thermostat seals
new thermostat
new rod bolts from gm (checked bearings)
new head bolts
cam seals
rocker gasket
new fly wheel bolts
throtle body to inlet seal
new crank sensor
new set of hydrolic buckets (not cheap crap cost in excess of 300+ from taylors vauxhall)
new plugs and leads
cav t fuel pump
injectors ultrasonicly cleaned (the recipt and flow rate chart went with the car )

basicly i did every seal and gasket because it had been stood stuff like crank seals had gone hard and would have leaked and i didnt want that weather i kept it or not

was a seriously quick xe motor though like i said previous it was very quiet and had masses of torque for a good standard spec xe. after i built it i very nearly took the xe back out and was going to keep the engine because of how strong it was and sell it with a little sr lump in it

only thing that realy let that car down was the paint work not having ever been flatted back and mopped and the odd bits of body work that needed doing like the door ect but we wasnt bothered as the car never realy stood us at alot to buy or build or i would have had it sorted.

ccm640
05-05-12, 01:26 PM
nice 1 for that ste as when i brought the car i was told it had got work done to the crank and a lightened flywheel but never realie believe anything that comes from a seller without proof but heard it from the person that built it now so that gives me more peice of mind. the engine still pulls like a train mate and has got bucket loads of torque and as for being quiet i was surprised when i went to look at it how quiet it was even from cold. i will have a look at the oilpressure sender in a minute when i give her a service as leads and plugs are discusting and the oil is as black as it gets but don't smell burnt so that is a bonus i surpose. as for the body work i'm going to give it a good mop with some g3 hopfully it will get rid of a few imperfections untill i get it done properly. but thanks for the info mate very appreciated.

Not sure about fly mate as it was a standard refaced one that was on it but the guy who bought it did say that when he had clutch problems the spring that broke gouged the fly so he had to have new fly aswell so proberly

Weather weren't bad to be fair and the track was glued too, with a tailwind behind, doubt you would get much quicker if in honest 14-6 is a great time id be happy with that for a xe

we ran a xe nova last year and on the stock xe we ran 13.7 so low 14's high 13's are easyily acheavable mate if you have an healthy engine and as ste says above also down to good tyres and driver

As has been said, when Ste sold the car to my old mate Chubs (Hungarian not polish lol) I changed a passenger side rear wheel bearing and flushed the coolant as it was getting too hot and fixed the fan switch (wires broke). Then it had a new clutch kit, flywheel skimmed and replacement gearbox as the synchro's went on 1st & 2nd gear. Shortly after he fitted an alarm and seat covers (horrid things they where) then got bored and sold it on after offering it to me for £1200, I was tempted but didn't have the money.

Was a very quick car when I drove it after the bearing change, but as also has been said it often got ragged at Valley Park 'Cruise' & Bluewater...

Here's a pic I took after working on it.

Thats the 1.4 out of my old flair, it kept having running issues with the 1.6 so Ste hoyyed that in i think for PVS, noone wanted to buy it as a 1.4 so he XE'd it lol
