i did mine also the same way as matthew172, imo i think cutting a big chunk out must really weaken the car in that critical area, also lot of hastle for the same thing in the end

I cut a cross where most put a box section. Welded, sanded and painted it looks factory.

When all said and done, you can hardly see it once the engines in. So the age old pikey/box section debate is irrelevant IMO!

Cut a cross?

I'm guessing he means cutting a cross, hammer it in then weld the cuts back up

Cut a slit parallel to the floor. Educate with a hammer then fire up the glue pot. Simples

I guessed that's what he ment as apposed to an actual cross

by fitting the alternator on the front of the engine, having made up a bracket, & found a different fan belt, will eradicate the need for this to be done.

i made mine too short the first time so had to sort in when the engine was in :(

wasnt the easiest so dosnt look the best but my engine will be getting swapped in the future

I can't work out what you've done hotrod?

Front-mounted alternator would negate the need for it but it's a bit of a commitment to getting it working well when prepping an engine bay when you're having your engine bay professionally painted etc.

Wasn't gonna fit my alternate on the front!

all I've done is chopped a lump of chassis out and filled it in with flat plate!

Didn't build a box or bash it with a hammer!
