View Full Version : My New Workhorse (warning, vag content!!!)

So i needed a cheap wee workhorse for my new business venture, funds are low and van prices were far too high for my liking:cry:

Anyway after looking at a few overpriced sheds i found this `98 VW Caddy for £700 with mot until Dec and tax til Aug 2012.

It needs a few small things like slam panel and front grill as you will see from the pics the previous owner had a small bump and damaged them but its an easy fix :thumb:

The van has only just hit 77k miles and is in reasonable shape for a work van.

The first thing i did was bin the bbs alloys as they were shaped more like a 50plol and fit a spare set i had laying about (nova now sits on axle stands)

so on with a few quick pics....

Cool wee van, i'm taking some 16" alloys off her Lupo in the coming weeks that may suit it.

MG hairpin alloys with the centre bore machines out to VAG fitment, was going to weigh them in.

Gona be calling it TyreXpress, the unit was used as a kickboxing gym called "The Badboy Gym" so no badboy Tyres lol.

The van is needing a few wee things done but it will all be done in timelol

Funds are a little tights just now with the new business Archie but thanks for the offer:thumb:

Wee update on my unit,

Thats the floor been painted,
Office stripped back and plasterboard replaced,
Second hand tyre racking cut to size and made up,
Lights sorted and machines brought over today

Just need the machines wired up and a few small things done then it will be open for business:d

Honestly? Lol small world eh.

Am setting it up for my wee cousin to run to get him off his a*se and away from sitting in the house all day with the occasional trip to the job centre, so it should be a win win situation.

I will be able to do my own work without worrying about finding someone I can trust to get the tyre bay setup and running so I still have regular money coming in to cover the bills at first.

Hi mate, an going to be selling Tyres to start off with.
Fingers crossed it all works out and makes enough that I can leave my job to work in my own place.

A had been thinking about it for years but was always too scared but with my daughter being born last year it kind of gave me the push I needed to try and make something of it.

Best of luck with it that then :)

People will always need cars fixed, that was my logic when i chose a career in the motor trade.

I work on both cars & bikes though good to get a change of scenery when i'm working alternate jobs.

Am actually a joiner to trade but work is slowly getting worse, I did Tyres for my mate at the weekends when I was an apprentice so I know what's involved.

I hope to get a set of ramps in to hire the use of them to the likes of taxi drivers etc to do their own repairs.
