i do agree though it does look a bit like a metro
i remember being on the motorway as a kid with my mum in her metro goin passed lorrys with wheels bigger than the car

The engine of the Eco3 was based on the turbo-Diesel engine, available for the Corsa for the '92 model year. The engine modified for the Eco3 had a power of 53kW/72PS at 4600RPM. The maximum torque was 143Nm at 2600RPM
In order to obtain the focused fuel consumption values, the following technical changes were made:
- reduction of the oil pressure
- use of synthetic oil in engine and transmission
- installation of an automatic start/stop device, which switched the engine off in idle. To restart the engine, the accelerator pedal had to be pressed slightly
For a better efficiency of the engine, an air cooler was added, whereby an increase of the power and the torque were reached.
A further reduction of the fuel consumption was reached by modifications on the transmission. The final ratio was changed from 3.74 to 3.42, and the fifth gear from 0.71 to 0.63.
As aerodynamic drag has a substantial influence on the fuel consumption, particular attention was paid to the rolling friction and the air resistance.
For the Eco3 friction-poor radial tires were used, which were developed together with Goodyear and which were already used on the research vehicles Impact und Eco2. Due to the special tread and rubber mixture the rolling friction was reduced by 50%.
The aerodynamics were improved by body modifications, so that a drag coefficient (cw-value) of 0.33 could be reached. The following changes were done:
- modified rear bumper with lateral outline edge for the air flow
- larger front bumper with 40mm rubber lip
- side skirts
- optimization of the outside mirrors
- flushed wheel covers
- removing of the gutter rails
- lower the car by 8mm

thats pushing calibra 8v areas which iirc was 0.28 and one of the most aerodynamic cars on the road at the time (and one of the fugliest)

It's crap... end of, let's not spoil the versions of Novas we recognise.
0.33 is nothing special tbh, under .3 is where it gets good. The barge calibra was .25 (or .26 in turdbo guise) according to wikipedia!

seeing as the polo was the main competition, i think i know why it looks like one....
as for the cd of 0.33...... the std one had one of 0.35 so they uglied it right up for a tiny gain..

Front bumper and grille look OK
I want a Grill, rest look a bit weird. Like a melted Nova, it has lost its lovely squareness :(

Yep bmw had it before audi. The Audi older s/s is rubbish lol the recent stuff ie 2012 is better.

Audi are usually behind with most things...
TBH I reckon it would have sold well if it had been released, its a good looking car for the era.
Going back to drag co-efficients...didn't the Mk2 Astra have one of the lowest ever of its time?

I would say its the same one thats on Steves site, just this pics in colour. The cars kept in Opel's Rüsselsheim basement with all the other prototypes.
Re the stop start.. Vw had a diesel golf auto running round london a very long time ago with it. It was on something like the 'original' top gear, so it was a boring feature.

Calibra was 0.26 (a record at the time) higher for sportier models, and the Cavalier was 0.29. The Eco3 Nova is pretty much an equiv. to the VW bluemotion of today. Stop/start technology in them days... not bad at all!

Aslong as it was kept on skinny tyres and a specific body kit lol
I like that mk3 nova.... Looks fresher than the corsa b/c shapes.

Back looks gash, front looks ok; VW stole that grill & took 20 years to put it on their bluemotion :(
