I went to the bank today only to find out my balance was £500+ less than it should of been, turned out adrian flux decided to take the money out as an automatic renewal of my policy, never mind the fact that they are dearer than everyone else is it legal to just take money from my account???

did you renew? if not, then it is illegal, but if you didn't instruct them either way, its a grey area

I didn't even get a letter of a reminder or a policy cover note etc

They had no instruction from me at all mate:(

Just glad I didn't have the rent to pay this week.

if they send you a letter with words to the effect of "we will automatically renew... please tell us if you don't want to renew etc etc" then you are responsible for cancelling the renewal. but then they have no proof you actually recieved said letter.

I've just had the exact problem with my previous insurance company. taken nearly 3 months to get me money back :(

Never got any letters from them at all mate:(

A would of thouht even if they did send one that I would at least have to sign something to allow them to take the money

unfortunately, if they class it as an automatic renewal, they can simply continue your instruction from last year.

by all means let them know you're not happy, but don't get too abusive or they'll just f*ck you off and keep your money lol

They tell you when you took out the policy a year ago that it will auto renew. I'd be surprised if you get the full amount back but you should get a refund

if its within the first 14days of renewal you should have a 14day cooling off period as with all financial products so should get a full refund

One of the many reasons I left Adrian Sux & will never ever use them again. They have lost insurance for three cars from me. I use RH insurace now and so far all seems well.

I had the same issue with HIC, I got a letter through saying I owed them about 2 grand as their police renewal bounced, 1. 2 grand?!? 2. Of course it bounced, I don't have 2 grand in the bank. 3. WTF Were you trying to take it for anyway.

In the end they paid all the bank charges instead iirc lol

Phew it is:cool:

Do you have apolicy with them or have you moved?

I had something similar years ago and had one car insured with 2 companies, when I noticed and spoke to the one I didn't want they refunded the policy as you can't have 2 on the same vehicle;)

Check your documentation from when you signed up with Flux a year ago (including any online documentation) - somewhere in there it will say the policy will auto renew. Unfortunately the insurance industry has taken the "responsible" act of automatically renewing policies to keep people legal; I can see how its useful for joe bloggs who keeps forgetting and doesn't care what he pays, but its a good way for them to get their inflated renewal prices through.

As Rich pointed out though, you should be entitled to a 2-week full refund. Ring them and ask nicely for a refund. If that doesn't work, get shirty; if that doesn't work threaten them with the ombudsman lol

Well got a decent reply today, they called me at work just after 10 this morning and after a the usual questions they agreed to return the full amount:thumb:

Only down side being the fact that I need to wait 5 working days:roll:
