so i was going down the m11 when it was pissing it down. and my linkage decided to pop off (Great timing nova) now after popping it back on it has come off again when going fast i guess the wind must push it up.

now what i can see is a ball joint and socket to fit the drivers arm to the linkage under the skuttle pannel. it seems to me that this is worn, is there anyway to get it to stay other than replacing the unit?

cheers :thumb:

not really, as it needs to move so any bodgery is likely to fail. just get another, you don't hear of many popping off so most will be less worn than yours by the sound of things lol

Linkage joints popping off on Nova's is quite common, I stocked up on some new ones as I have had it happen on all my old Novas. Just make sure the little rectangular piece of plastic is still in there which helps hold it on.
Most likely it will need a new linkage.

Can you see the tag hanging out of the back? Make sure that is there and pushed home.

If it is there, you could try making a slightly larger one to push in which would make the securing tab push over a bit more

as a half decent codge trick, as used by me when i had exactly the same happen at about 100 odd mph trying to slow down in a rainstorm on an autobahn near dusseldorf....on the hard shoulder, i used a lighter to warm up the end of a small screwdriver & then melted the top bit of the socket, bit by bit to make the hole smaller. then once it was cold, i pushed it back on. then carried on as before & never bothered to replace it.... it was one of my scarier moments, when the rh wiper stopped & the lh one kept going, luckily i had a passenger in the car so she could advise me on what to avoid, not that she was much use, but i still married her

I think you have to buy the complete linkage

That's if they even sell them anymore

Best bet is to make a rosejointed one
