Hi all I was wondering if somebody could answer this question before I either try and source new clocks or get DTA to check my ecu.
Before taking my car to bits I tried to get the rev counter working wired it as it should Blue wire from DTA to the vx220. on the latop the the dta has the revs fine but the rev counter the the vx clocks didnt do out. I took the wire back off and accedently touched the clock wire to a the metal support on the dash, the needle moved and went to 2k and dropped. I havent tried another rev counter yet. does anybody have any suggestions.
Cheers Gareth

That would have simply grounded the the signal, so should be fine on the cluster side.

have you got a multimeter with engine speed on it? if so just hook that upto the DTA and see if it gives you numbers

Cheers Stuart Yeah I have a mulitmeter mate. It wasnt registering if the car was ticking over at 900rpm or when I blipped the trottle upto 3500rpm.

odd

Have you also sorted a way of getting the engine temp to read properly? ;) you need a MK4 astra petrol engine ECU to convert the sensor reading into something the cluster accepts, or get a circuit made up to sort it.

I havent looked at that bit yet but it will be on my list of things lol. I know the fuel level is not happy with the universal sensor in my internal tank though. Do you have any ideas on how to do the temp, Is it just any petrol ecu? is it a different frequency thats needed?

as for the water temp could I not tap it off my DTA loom would that not provide the correct format?

I can't remember if its a PWM signal or if its just an adjusted analogue signal

For the water temp would a low pass filter do it

Some rev counters need a 'pull up' voltage to work with the DTA, I can't remember the details and the old DTA forum has gone along with all the good info. Email Allan at DTA he'll let you know what you need to do. Don't be put off by short or sharp answers, he's alright really lol

I think its the voltage being shifted by the Astra ecu.... I'll find out how the VX guys sorted it when using the webCON stuff
