Right seeing as im in need of a family car at the minute Ive been looking at BMW 330d touring.

I'm looking at a 2002 with 134,000 miles on her,

Thinking this will be fine towing aswell :)

Cheers for any advice
Joe

Pretty decent cars mate. tbh ive not had much to do with the 330's, but ive replaced a fair few turbos and inlet manifolds on the 320d's. someone else may know if the 3.0 has the same weaknesses but on the whole I'd say you wont find a much better all rounder

Goodish on fuel, and they go like f00k for a diesel!

My mate has one and he had it mapped. Pure weapon with good mpg. Check the bimmer forums for tips with egr valves and the like, but all in all a good bus....

Make sure you remove the swirl flaps if they havent already been done.

I'm after a 530d m sport estate but finding a manual is a bit bloody difficult

I did 150 miles in a 330D M-Sport Touring yesterday, very nice to drive, 39mpg average for the trip, none of the journey on motorways/dual carriageways either.

I've used the same car for towing a Fiesta race car and it's excellent.

It belongs to a friend of mine, it eats tyres, and the bottom suspension arms are a weak point, as well as wheel bearings. But it's a brillian all rounder, I had 10 wheels and tyres in the back of it yesterday with a little room to spare.

I'm also looking at 320/330/520/530 D's and wondering if its worth the loss of fuel economy given the stupid price of derv to go for the 30 over the 20 just for a bit more poke.

Saw a very leggy 130K 08 plate 330D tourer the other day..... tbh I'd imagine anything thats made it that far will have had the major mechanicals done lol

See for my budget it's a push finding an 02ish plate 330d with m sports,

But there are there to be had :)
I agree too the manuals are a rare rare things in the touring's it seems lol.

Seems like no one has anything bad to say about them which is good

The 30's get awesome fuel economy for what they are though!

I am not a BMW fan..........., but I was away on business is a 57plate 525 diesel auto last year, and I have to say it was a superb vehicle, had plently of legs when it was stepped on to move, drove superbly, handled well for it's size and I got a 46mpg average (alot of steady motorway miles)

Certainly got my respect;)
