Totally inappropriate :tosser:

Agreed! Plus he can't even spell it correctly!

My best friends 8 year old son has down syndrome and to use it as a derogatory term for a nova argument is pretty sad and concerning!

iv got a 15 year old cousin who has down's syndrome, he's aspiring to be an actor and can spell better than that, not funny really

Agreed with the above comments, remarks like that are wholly unaccaptable and will not be permitted on this site!

And as for the dyslexic comment, its funny how everyone who either cant spell, wont spell, or just plain text types, replies with the words 'its not my fault, im dyslexic'!

Danny on here is dyslexic, and he has even said himself, he uses spell checkers before he posts as he feels stupid when he gets it wrong, and therefore wants to make the effort to ensure he types and posts as well as he possibly can, and also dyslexia does not mean you use numbers instead of words, that is called text typing, another thing which is not permitted on here.

You read and accepted the rules when you signed up the the site, you also agreed to abide by them, please do so.

Will the same force be used if someone is called a retard then?

Spudly

Really in fairness we shouldnt allow any derogatory remarks of any kind, no matter what context theyre in, kind of annoying though as 'tard' happens to be the keyboard shortcode for this smiley :tard:

But anyways you red blob, put yer wooden spoon away and shush :p

retard is a common term though isn't it, a specific term such as down syndrome or downy is more unacceptable

Spudly
16-04-12, 07:03 PM
It is yes, but in fairness neither are really acceptable when you think about it tbh!

turbojolt
16-04-12, 07:06 PM
I don't want to get myself in trouble, but what difference does it make one way or another if you call someone you deem stupid a 'retard' its just as offensive to some people as the word 'mong' ect..

turbojolt
16-04-12, 07:07 PM
Shut up you bunch of faggits

Spudly
16-04-12, 07:09 PM
I suppose its all how you see the word and what it means to you, in my eyes a mong, is more someone i would describe in the stoned state of sleepyness, slow and not with it, aka a mong, thats just what the word appears to mean to me, it may actually mean something different completely to others lol

Not really,in all the years i have been on here i have never seen anyone take offence to being called a tard or mong.
Saying somebody is a downs is too far and has got peoples backs up.
Thats the only time i have ever heard/seen/read anybody use it in a deregotary way,and its got people annoyed-speaks volumes imo.
If you read the definition of both you will understand, retard can have several meanings, downs, well, work it out.
Oh and LOL at the dyslexic card, thats getting really tiresome on here now.

turbojolt

Yes but then use the word retard to someone with a metal ailment and it has the exact same affect, but then again I suppose that's were the mods best judgement comes in

By the way I'm not defending what was said just looking at it from another angle.

Usually in my own experience, i will step in when i see that offence has been caused, in this case i had to say something as i had a couple of people ring me saying 'wtf have you seen this guys comment, totally not on' plus the fact there has been more than a few people voice their concern/opinion/disgust at it!

there never was a nova GSE

as for trying to discuss what offensive comment is acceptable because it is in common parlance, i think is stretching the debate a touch..

i agree with the forums rules, and regularly pm people to nip stuff in the bud.

at least you have apologised for what you said mate, cant really say fairer than that.

its one thing using names in your circle of friends etc (not saying its right), but to use them in a public domain such as this is not on as its bound to offend somebody, with good reason too tbh.

Nova gse... no.

No need to ban turbotool though, a clean up of the thread and a clip around the ear would of sufficed IMO!
