Iv Already got my eye on a local saab 900 turbo forsale and was planning on just running it around till the mot runs out then stripping it for the engine for my nova. Has anyone got any heads up on problems I might find with the conversion. Or are they just straight forward like c20let ect. Cheers for any info / help. Dan

Isn't the engine about 20' tall and as such won't fit in the bay properly?

Wouldn't say 20foot like its more like 20mm that can soon be sorted by modding the sump and playing with mounts or the 10 minute way like I will as its a must on track cars anyway , just fit the motor and lift the bonnet at the rear getting nearly as common as xe novas in europe so it oviusly can be done easy enough but if anyone can point out any problems asin wiring / flywheels , gear boxes ect I'd appritiate it

Looked into this a few times.... The b204 will become the new let,

Unless you have extremely good fabricating skills you wont get it to fit lol
I know it's been done before in Europe but there was only a few pictures on the build thread not much of the chassis is left by the time the engines in.

B207 will be the new let... Same block as a z22se, f23 box etc. and a very bomb proof bottom end

Shouldn't be a problem then been a qualified welder fabricator doing it day in day out :)

So does the vauxhall box ect marry up fine ? Or is it a case of miss match clutches/flywheels. Yea also from what I have read and seen over the last couple of months they do seem pritty robust motors.

iirc the b204 only has a problem with the turbo sometimes getting starved of oil and a problem with the coil packs thats the most common problems i have encountered at work :)

both chassis legs need to move out by 1" either side if i remember

i think if you work on needing new mounts all round & possibly altering driveshaft lengths, it would probably fit. there was an astra with one fitted on original gearbox mounts & the rh chassis leg needed some serious work. the engine is quite a bit longer than a normal big block.

They go into astras fairly easily my mates got one in his, hes absolutely mad on them for ease of tunin etc

I know he did the Astra conversion pretty much by his self at home only thing he struggled with was the powersteering he couldn't be bothered to get a Longer hose made up so just bunged the pump up with grease....

We went a test drive and the car started filling with smoke, got back to my house to find a belt on fire from the heat of the pump lol lol

His next project is an e36 with a b204 lol

the astra mowgli mentioned was a mk2, iirc it was one of paul's mates

having seen just how low & far to the left a nova engine can be mounted (colins turbo hill climber....) with a bit of metal working, one would fit... but obviously, there is no fitting kit..

i thought it was the 9000 engine that was used. not the 900

the 9000 engine would struggle to fit if it was chucked in the boot.... its the later gm type 900 engine..
