Ok, looking for confirmation of my thinking here. My 1.3 sr endurance rally car has developed an erratic tick over. SOmetimes its time, then the rpm will rise and die again, sometimes cutting out altogether. Its like it has an air leak and hunting as a result. Checking all the pipes for leaks I discovered that removing the distributor advance pipe cures the problem, i.e. it runs perfectly. SO am I right in thinking the vacuum advance diaphragm is shot?
