I have to renew my photo on my licence photocard this month.
dvla are charging me £20 for the privilage.
SO they WANT ME to send a new photo in AND PAY for it??
The country has gone mad.
Where does it end?? we will be paying for v5's next

I thought about that and i dont think its possible.

I forgot to change my address on my licence a while ago and it was only due to an Xmas police initiative a couple of years back that shocked me into action..

I sent the form, new photo and EVEN a cheque to cover the cost..

DVLA sent me the cheque back a week later saying they would take the hit for an address change..

I thought I was going to get a bollocking from them for leaving it for over four years after moving house...:)

Can't you 'name' your house so the address is changed ? ;)

Just move back to the olds for a few months every ten years then move back. Just blame it on a moody missus!

Well, that Xmastime, the police were nailing people left right and centre for every trivial thing, including discrepancies on licences..

I had a couple of 'moments' during that time where I narrowly missed being pulled into the roadside..

I would recommend to you all to change your addresses on your licences.....

Quickly looking at the form it seems you have to pay the thing no matter what.
I wouldnt mind if it actually went somewhere to improving their service or the roads or summat.
Instead it just lines the governments sky rockets.

The dvla costs a fortune to run, so I imagine most if not all the fees goto them to invent new ways of keeping Swansea employed lol

It was scrapped many many years ago..... And renamed vehicle excise duty, that way it doesn't have to be sent on the roads;)

I've just renewed mine online, they use the photo from your passport, saves messing around with forms and paying for photos etc

£20 every few years is a nice earner... Why wouldn't they charge.
