Back box removal

The back box on my 1.0 has snapped at the weld and I have removed it. This leaves the join still on the middle pipe.

I have tried splitting the bits that should be split but, it will not move and without the leverage of the back box I can't get it to budge.

I have no heat or have ever used a grinder. Is my only option really just to buy a grinder and cut along the split bit?

Or use a hacksaw and carefully cut the outer piece so you can spread it from the inner
