I swapped the front for the back diagonal tyres on my mini cooper as the fronts are a bit worn. One of the tyres has a slow punture so took it to a tyre place to remove so i could file down and paint the inner wheel. When the guy was putting the tyre back on he asked what wheel is it for. I then realised that these tyres have rotational arrows.

All tyres except the front passnger are the correct way. Do I have to get this tyre removed and put on the other way? I have never had directional tyres beore, what is it about?

Thanks

Tyres can be directional and if there is direction advice then stick to it as that is the direction they are designed to go in.

Usually the tyre will dissipate water better in the indicated direction

plus its mot failable as the manufacturers markings are wrong.

It'll wear faster in the wrong way but there is theory that undriven wheels should have the direction 'reversed'

Insurance will be invalidated if you have an accident. Get it changed

the directional tread is designed to grip and disperse water in a certain way if there fitted the wrong way round then you will not be getting the grip efficeincy i was designed for and it will be collecting water rather than getting rid of it on rainy days
