turbo rebuild....

got my t28 of the renault, the houseing is cracked inside abit, there is up and down movement in the shaft, but none in and out, and dont smoke, is it worth a rebuild, or just buy a new one, also were to go to get it done without having my pants pulled down...

With regard to the shaft movement, that sounds fine to me, i was always led to believe that there should be zero movement in it, but Joff was showing me one of his spare turbos and demonstrated that there should be up and down movement, as when the oilways are pressured up, the oil takes the movement out and dampens the shaft, so that as i say sounds good to me, possibly just needs a new casing if you can source one!
